So, taking up from the emergency staff meeting…… we were flooded (pun intended) with guesses for the camp location, but no correct answer yet.
Anyway on with the story - it was with reluctance, and several pairs of wet feet, that the staff decided to send the boys home. Sunday after breakfast saw the advance party waving goodbye to the main body of the camp who were returning to Alloa by mini bus.
So what happened next? Another staff meeting to discuss how to deal with a campsite of soaking canvas, 4 inches of mud underfoot and 36 mince pies, 5 kilos of boiled potatoes and a large 40 portion catering tin of Heinz beans that were for Sunday dinner!
Well, in true 26thBB fashion we put off any real discussion untill after attacking the pies!. Then the planning started. We had a days activity organised for Monday at Whithaugh Outdoor Centre and with little regard to the pence per mile charges for the minibus we sent it back to Alloa to pick up the boys. Yes, the same boys we had sent home 24hrs earlier! As you’ll see from the photos we think it was mileage money well spent.
Whithaugh Park - An outdoor centre with plenty to keep the boys occupied, starting with abseiling…..
Doesn’t look that high…..

…make sure it’s really tight…I’m beginning to think it’s really really high!
…I was right it’s really, really, really high!!
…..look I can see the camp from here
Now for any of you that want to run away to the circus…….the Highwire….
Graeme, why can’t we look….is it scary?
No…not really.
Relax guys…..we caught him before he hit the ground. Honest, you can ask him when he wakes up!

ah, well, perhaps not……
…looks right Graeme made the right call on this one!
Of course kayaking might have been a better idea…
Yes, very good… but shouldn’t you be in the water…
…there you go….

Hey! Where do you think you’re going……..”I see a raft…”
…is that a kayak behind you Mr Duff?…..

Zipwire instruction time…. Zipwire? It’s not high is it?
No, not really ( heard that answer before!)
“…ur you greetin’?”
…now that’s more the height I like…
……don’t get “tyred” half way across….(sorry)
…you’re laughing now…. but wait to see what’s lined up for you back at camp!
Well, a fabulous day of activities at Whithaugh. The boys picked up in Alloa a few hours ago are put back in the minibus and taken back to Alloa. Not so lucky are our three laughing cavaliers above. Decisions have been made back at camp and a major clean up to rescue our 2012 camp at ? (any ideas yet?) is about to begin.
NOTE: the minibus (and its driver) have now been up and down the motorway 7 times with more to follow… and it’s still…only Monday!
More to follow……..
